The Job

Role purpose:

  • Direct, coordinate and maintain the effectiveness of all expediting functions and services to ensure timely delivery of materials to factories, and to manage all personnel activities in support of these operations.
  • To develop the resources to meet projected workload.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and implement expediting procedures, policies, plans, and manage all personnel activities in support of these activities.
  • Coordinate and maintain the effectiveness of status reporting for all assigned categories and participate in promptly anticipating ad resolving any risks of delays together with Expeditor in charge. 
  • Ensure that Expeditors timely collect Subcons First of Production (FOP) and Mass Production Goods (MPG) manufacturing progress self-reporting and regularly assess progress at Subcons premises to ensure On Time Delivery (OTD). Generate OTD Reports, identify, alert, propose remediation plan and coordinate with all the Parties to resolve any Risks of delay that may affect OTD.
  • Coordinate and supervise the evaluation of vendors performance in collaboration with the relevant category managers and buyers and participate in the formalities for inclusion, retention, upgrade, or deletion of vendors from master vendor list.
  • Direct and coordinate all expediting activities from release of purchase orders to final payment of vendors invoices.
  • Manage, coordinate, and monitor the expediting services and develop the resourcing plan in anticipation of projected workload within allocated budgets.
  • Direct and control the selection, performance, training, and development of all Expediting personnel.
  • Develop team goals and manage achievement of goals on a regular basis; Administer the system of team performance measures; track all measurement data; provide feedback to team members and Management on overall performance.
  • Report and share with Category Manager and Buyers potential and risks associated with suppliers/subcontractor’s capacity & capabilities
  • Assist in the development of categories procurement plans and other associated documentation required as part of Categories Strategy execution plans.
  • Liaise with Manufacturing Engineering (ME), and Production Departments managers to resolve any technical challenges, with QC department manager to ensure a prompt QC of the delivered goods.
  • Improve the performance of the expediting departments
  • Represent the expediting department in management meetings.
  • Where Compliance is an issue, report to the Procurement Director.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by Procurement Director.

Your Skills and Experience

Education / Specific Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Wood & Furniture Engineering/Manufacturing or Mechanical
  • Previous experience in furniture manufacturing industry is a plus
  • Minimum 4 years work experience in an equal role and have managed and coordinated relatively large-scale activities and supervised a team of expeditors. An experience in supply chain is an added value
  • Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, Internet, and Office processing software.

 Technical / Functional Skills

  • Ability to understand Bills of Materials, read Manufacturing Drawings and other technical and quality documentation
  • Precise reporting maintenance and concise presentation

  • Proven ability to identify problems quickly, use initiative, establish, and implement remediations solutions
  • Very good written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate convincingly at all levels and with all functions in English
  • Effective time management, planning and organization skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and drive tasks to completion in a fixed timeframe and in a pressured environment
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and build relationships across multiple functions
  • Ability to deal with ambiguities, conflicts, and adversarial relationships
